Diabetes education
Designed to teach needed skills in managing diabetes, Craig General Hospital’s diabetes education program offers a unique and comprehensive outpatient service. Based on a national program to increase patients’ quality of life, it has proven effective in significantly reducing hospitalizations and length of stay. Individual and group education is available with individualized follow-up for one year.
This program includes:
- Individual sessions
- Group sessions
- Medical nutrition therapy
Services include:
- Evaluation, education and initiation of insulin pump therapy
- Gestational diabetes education and coordination
- Evaluation and recommendations for medication adjustment
- Individual education for cognitively challenged people
- Group home staff education
